Everything and everyone has a history, making our world unique. The importance of looking back and remembering what those before us have done is crucial in order to learn about what lies ahead. According to the North County Times, the town of Vista is working towards preserving their past.
Vista historian, Lois Cavalier, is writing a series of booklets recording the city's past, including recollections from notable locals and stories of important events. Her goal is to tackle a more thorough explanation of the area’s founding and growth. Cavalier said the new publication, 13 booklets in all, will be called "Decades of Dedication", covering interesting stories from Vista's history.
"I think it's important to preserve these wonderful memories and wonderful stories," Cavalier said. "It's vital actually, to do that." Twelve of the booklets will cover a decade each from pre-1900 to the present, and one booklet will be written especially for children. The historian has conducted about 35 interviews for the volumes so far and expects she will have talked to about 100 people by the time the books are completed within the next year. They will be distributed to schools and organizations and sold by the Vista Historical Society.
Residents who would like to share a story for the series or know someone who should be included can contact Cavalier through the Vista Historical Society at 760-630-0444.
